Chicago — Despite three straight ugly losses, all by double digits, the Detroit Lions continued to present a unified front after Sundays 34-22 loss to the Chicago Bears.
Lions coach Matt Patricia said in his postgame comments that everyone on the team is in this together and linebacker and captain Devon Kennard mentioned the importance of sticking together through the tough times.
“I think were all bought in,” Patricia said. “Its the middle of the season. Were trying to work hard and get better. Theres really no — its not a secret, its not anything special. Weve just got to do the work and work hard and try to get better. Thats all the way across the board.”
That message has been a constant for Patricia this season, at least the one being publicly presented. And the players do a good job parroting the coachs words in the locker room. In many cases, they will repeat a similar answer about the need to keep working hard, regardless of the question.

Last week, Patricia made the decision to fire special teams coordinator Joe Marciano, but the loss in Chicago made it seem like the coaching shakeup was a Band-Aid on a severed artery.
Still, with the losses piling up and the Lions falling to 3-6 on the season, theres no one in the locker room questioning Patricias methodology.
“I definitely believe in him and I definitely believe in this team, this organization and everybody thats in this locker room,” cornerback Nevin Lawson said.
Running back LeGarrette Blount, who was brought in by Patricia this offseason to help establish the desired locker room culture, was even more definitive in his support of the coach.
“Hes our coach,” Blount said. “These are our coaches. We have their back 100 percent. …At the end of the day, the fans dont play the game, we do. And at the end of the day, the fans dont coach the game, (the coaches) do. Its something we definitely have to take accountability and do everything we can to make this thing go in the right direction.”
