Free food offered to vets, active military in Metro Detroit

During one of the most patriotic days of the year, businesses in Metro Detroit are offering military personnel free food and discounts as thank you for their service.

Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice held annually on Nov. 11, honors military veterans and those actively serving in the United States Armed Forces. It is observed as an official holiday on Monday. 

While the nation recognizes their sacrifices, military personnel are encouraged to bring their military identification or VetRewards and visit the following locations:

Applebee’s
Free entrée off of Applebee’s special menu on Sunday. Items include the Bacon Cheeseburger and Fiesta Lime Chicken.

Bar Louie 
Bar Louie is giving away free Veterans Day food on Sunday.

Biggby
Free 24oz brewed coffee on Sunday.

Bob Evans
Free dine-in breakfast entrée, including the Country Biscuit Breakfast or a stack of hotcakes.

Bonefish Grill 
Free Bang Bang Shrimp appetizers.

Buffalo Wild Wings
Their “Wings for Heroes” means you’ll receive one small order of wings with a side of fries on Sunday.

California Pizza Kitchen
Enjoy a complimentary pizza, pasta or salad entrée from CPK’s Veterans Day menu Sunday, as well as a card to redeem for a Buy One, Get One Free offer through Nov. 18.

Carrabbas Italian Grill 
Veterans can get a free appetizer on Sunday and Monday.

Chili’s
Most Chili’s offer a free meal to military and veterans, but call your local chain for details.

Chipotle 
On Sunday, all active duty military, reserves, national guard, military spouses, and retired military with valid military ID can get a free meal when they purchase another at Chipotle.

Cracker Barrel
Veterans can enjoy a free double chocolate Coca-Cola cake or a crafted coffee on Sunday. 

Denny’s
A free Grand Slam breakfast from Denny’s from 5 a.m. to noon Monday.

Dunkin Donuts
A free doughnut of their choice at participating locations on Sunday. 

Golden Corral
Golden Corral honors military and vets on from 5-9 p.m. Monday with a free meal. To date, Golden Corral restaurants have served over 5.4 million free meals and contributed over $14 million to Disabled American Veterans. 

IHOP/ IHOB
Free red, white, and blue pancakes with blueberries, strawberries, and whipped cream on Sunday between 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Krispy Kreme
Start Sunday off with a free breakfast at Krispy Kreme that includes a doughnut and a small coffee. 

Little Caesars Pizza 
Grab your free pizza or $5 HOT-N-READY lunch combo on Sunday. 

MOD Pizza
Free MOD-sized pizza or salad at any location on Sunday.

Olive Garden
Choose from 6 popular entrees from Olive Garden’s menu for free on Sunday.

Outback Steakhouse
“Military Mates” and their families can get a free bloomin onion and drink on Sunday.

On the Border 
Choose two or three of your favorites to make a free create-your-own combo meal with rice and beans, plus chips and salsa.

Red Lobster
Get your free appetizer or dessert on Sunday or Monday.

Red Robin
Get a free Red’s Tavern Double Burger and Bottomless Steak Fries on Sunday.

Starbucks
Veterans, active duty and military spouses are able to get a free 12-ounce coffee all day Sunday.

TGI Fridays
Get a free lunch menu item up to $12 from 11 a.–2 p.m. Sunday. Guests will also receive a $5 coupon for their next meal.

Texas Roadhouse
Choose from 10 free lunch offers, including a complimentary beverage.

Texas De Brazil
Two veterans dine complimentary plus 20 percent off for up to six additional guests on Sunday and Monday.
